The thing about sports management MMOG type games is that you have to really like the sport to have fun playing the game. It's no secret that the Gamespotter really likes auto racing. If you really like cars and racing, you'll like today's game.
The game is called Andatura which, we're told, means sailing point in Italian. Must be some Italian automotive reference. Anyway, the game is a text based MMOG where you run a race team, buy and sell race cars, hire drivers and modify your car in order to race against other player from around the world. If you like racing, this game is highly detailed and is fairly accurate in terms of car performance. But be ready to plod through screen after screen in order to race. And the races themselves are a position grid that updates every 60 seconds, which if you are losing seems to take forever.
The game is interesting in that it shows the economics of racing, Buying cars, tires and hiring and training drivers all take money, Money comes from doing well in races. Sort of the old, you've got to spend money to make money. So your team strategy in this game is what it's all about.
We like this game because it's a good race team management sim and we really get into the strategy of competition. But if you are looking for a fast paced racing game that test you driving skills, look elsewhere.
