We very seldom feature interactive fiction type adventure games especially text based ones. There are just so many out there and frankly, most are poorly executed. But today's featured game has a special place in our heart and in internet history.
We are talking about the Bastard Operator from Hell or as he is commonly known as the BOFH. If you think you've got got surely, uncooperative IT guys, wait till you meet the BOFH, perhaps the most evil man ever to wield the power of UNIX. Which brings us to the BOFH game, In this game the object is to confound and irritate and yes sometimes even destroy your bosses and coworkers through your knowledge of the dark side of command line interfaces. For example, If a user calls up and complains about their network speed, you replace their gigabit network card with a 300 baud modem, and tell to speed up there computer they must type L-user at the end of all their e-mails. Get the idea?
As is appropriate, this game looks like a text terminal and you must type in your commands, just like the old days. And if you remember the old school dungeon games you'll feel at home here. If nothing else this game will eventually improve your typing skills and your verb object agreement. The strategy in this game is to wreak mayhem within your company and yet remain unscathed. In true to the original BOFH tradition.
We love this game because it appeals to our inner evil geek. There is something especially satisfying about using you knowledge against the stupid, and the mediocre, the people who shouldn't have ever been given computers, in a word, the L-users. "Now, what is your username? clickety-click"
