If you are a fan of those early sixties crime dramas, like the original "Oceans Eleven" and "Seventy-seven Sunset Strip," prepare to be blown away. You can call it an adventure game or an interactive movie, we just call today's featured game, cool. Cool like nobody's business, Daddy-O.
With a big gun like BMW Films behind it, it's no wonder that The Cool Flame is probably the most stylish and cool Flash graphic adventure yet devised. In this game you take on the role of Harley Flame, an entertainment reporter looking into the disappearance of mega-producer Seymour Deville. Set in the the Caribbean town of Montano Bay in the early sixties (maybe) this games drips with neo-noir latin style. When Flame (you) runs into nightclub diva Gina Lopez the game really heats up. The question is, can Harley and Gina stay cool enough to stand the heat.
The adventure runs over five episodes and you have to register to play the last four. But other than that little caveat, this game is sheer immersive enjoyment. The graphics and sound in this thing are some of the best we've seen or heard. The interaction in this game involves solving life's little mysteries, like getting past a doorman and how to make a dry Manhattan, as well as using dialog to get to the bottom of things. Like where is Deville? and how did that modern BMW get here?
We love this game. After you spend an afternoon getting through the five episodes, you'll be salivating for more. But like a good old movie that you watch over and over, you might have to settle for playing this game again and again.
