At the risk of ticking off fans of the bard; (ahem) To flea, or not to flea is today's game session. Whether 'tis nobler on the hound to suffer the things that bled Fleatown of its claret fortune, or to take hops over the tick's frowning trouble-makers, and recover the towns loss.
In Hillbilly Flea and Country Tick you play the part of Hillbilly Flea. A slouching resident of the quiet community of Fleatown. The evil Country Tick and his gang of miscreants have bled the Fleatown Blood Bank dry of all its deposits and fled. Its up to you to recover the pilfered plasma and capture the bearded tick criminal that withdrew it. During your quest you'll be presented with nits and lice out for your blood. If you don't dodge or stomp on them and they get you it will cost you a life and you'll have to go back to the beginning of the level. To control your character, use the left and right arrow keys to move and the up arrow key to jump.
Hillbilly Flea and Country Tick is an appealing side-scroller with creative and unique characters. The cartoony graphics are nicely done and filled with personality. Although some of the elements appear to have been resized at some point and never cleaned up. The game engine could use some tweaking. For example; it's sometimes difficult to gauge the edge of platforms. However, overall the game is solid enough for plenty of satisfying recreation.
We liked the game's rock-a-billy music track.
