Sometimes an otherwise run-of-the-mill game catches our eye just for style points. There's nothing new about side scrolling space-shooters, but when infused it with J-pop Anime style it rises to a new level.

Today's game is an Anime style game called Lightyear Alpha. This game is soaked with Japanese pop style graphics and even text phrases smack of an Anime Sci-Fi flick. Why is it in Japanese films the villains are always almost to cute to shoot? We did say almost. While your mission in this game is explained in great detail in the game screens, the bottom line is to shoot everything and grab the power balls.

Even when you're playing the game it reeks of Anime style. From your hedgehog shaped space ship to the way that your enemies swarm and attack. And did we mention the loud J-pop music? If you like Anime this is a game that you can imagine yourself playing in a Ginza arcade.

We Like this game for it's unified execution. It's style becomes it's substance. And for a side scrolling space shooter it holds it's own as a game. So prepare, Combatant, to pilot Lightyear Alpha!
