It's no secret that Gamespotter loves racing games. We're always on the look out for a special Web racing game. They say more races are won in the pits than on the track, and today's featured game adheres to that philosophy.
Aptly named, this game is called Splash and Dash. Which, for non-racing fanatics, refers to taking only as much fuel as you need to finish a race. The on-track portion of this game is sort of a throw-back to the old Pole Position type games, nothing particularly special here, but where the game shines is when you make a pit stop. Then the game POV switches to a top down view and your job is to manage your pit crew to make the shortest stop possible.
You have at your disposal a full Formula One sized pit crew, which means that everyone has job to do and you have to make sure that each crew member is either working or staying out of the way. If you damage the wings on your racecar you must send someone to the truck to get a new one and assign the crew members to replace the part. You also have to manage both the refueling team and any tire changers. This sounds like a lot of things to do and it is. But that's how you win this race. Also keep in mind that your initial set-up and tuning are important to how your car performs.
We love this game because it is a thinking person's racing game. This game isn't about how well you can steer around the track, it's about the strategies of conserving fuel, avoiding damage and planning your pit stop.
