Feature Game For 2005-02-04
Whizzball
http://kids.discovery.com/games/whizzball/whizzball.html

Today's featured game is billed as a kid's game, Although this one is mentally challenging enough for anyone no matter what their age. And it's not only about solving a puzzle, you can also create them for other players to try to solve.

Even though Whizzball is on the Discovery Kids site doesn't mean you have to be a kid to play it, you just have to be a whiz. If you've ever played LucasArts' Droids game you will be familiar with this game. The idea is to use a bunch of Rube Goldberg type 3-D devices to roll, pitch, transport and otherwise guide a ball from point A to point B. Sounds easy, but of course it's not.

It takes a bit of a learning curve to figure out what each of the devices do, but once you do that's where the fun begins. There are literally hundreds of puzzles to solve on this site so if you like the game you can stay buzy for an awfully long time. Also if you get tired of solving the puzzles you can move up to designing and submitting puzzle for others to play.

We like the ingenious 3-D devices in this game. Also we like the combination of head scratching while you try to solve it and the giggles as you watch the ball make it's way through the gauntlet.
